William S. Cottingham, Fine Art Advisor, with over 35 years of experience in the Fine Art business, began his career after graduating from McGill University in 1978. Cottingham worked for Waddington Galleries, an international art gallery in Toronto. In 1981, he moved to New York to become Director of the Waddington Gallery. In 1985, Cottingham began working at the international auction house, Sotheby’s, both in the New York and Boston offices. For over 30 years he was a Senior Executive whose roles included managing a diverse array of departments including Business Development, Appraisals and Regional Offices. He has established many trusted relationships with loyal clients who rely on his advice and his honest independent counsel. In 2015, Cottingham started his independent advisory firm, Cottingham Fine Arts.
